In celebration of the 25th National Maritime Week and the 29th National Seafarers Day, the Philippine Port Authority hosted Zumba for a Cause event on September 29. Organized by the Philippine Coast Guardians of CCS Oriental Mindoro in partnership with various public departments, the event aimed to raise funds for a gift-giving and feeding program for coastal residents in the station's area of responsibility.

The Southwestern College of Maritime, Business, and Technology (SCMBT) actively participated, with 54 students from the Senior High School department headed by Maรกm Jhobell De Sagun joining the said cause. The said event costs Php 300, with inclusion of a printed t-shirt and refreshments.

The Zumba event not only supported a noble cause but also promoted wellness among students. As to physical education, it helps foster positive attitudes towards physical activities and encourages students to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle. A highlight of the day was Shane Quitain, a Grade 12 student from SCMBT, whose exceptional energy and skills captured the zumba instructor's attention. As a recognition of her outstanding participation, Quitain received special incentives.

Overall, the event was a resounding success, bringing together the community for a day of fitness, fun, and kindness.
